1997
Start of Calon’s Story
Calon is founded by Tim Sly, initially as a technology consultancy for control networks.
2000
Calon’s first office
Calon opens their first office in Runcorn, Cheshire

2001
InfraLIGHT 100
Calon introduces the InfraLIGHT 100 family, our first-generation of lighting control.

2001
Customer project – Shell, UK Wide
Rollout of IP-enabled externall lighting controls with remote management to 600+ filling stations.

2002
David joins the team
David Blyth joins the team as Technical Manager.
2002
Supporting open standards for retailing
Calon becomes technical centre for standards body IFSF, supporting manufacturers of forecourt and retail equipment.

2002
Customer project – Glasgow City Council
Control and remote monitoring of architectural lighting on famous buildings across Glasgow.
2004
Customer project – Scottish Supreme Court, Edinburgh
Networked lighting controls, underfloor heating controls and access control to historic listed building and associated new-build extension.

2005
InfraLINK
Calon introduces InfraLINK, the first ‘plug and play’ interface for IFSF integration, now in it’s third generation.

2006
InfraLIGHT 200 family
Calon introduces InfraLIGHT 200, the famous ‘Blue Box’ LCM.
2006
Customer project – Aegon House, Edinburgh
Retrofit upgrade of networked lighting control with 1,000 LCMs to major office building.

2006
On the move
Calon moves to new offices at the prestigious Daresbury Science Park.
2007
Supporting Standards
Calon MD Tim Sly joins the board of directors of global standards body LonMark International.

2008

Specialist control of aquarium lighting

Emergency Lighting Integration
Open protocol Integration solutions for a major life safety OEM – the start of a 15 year relationship.
2010
InfraLIGHT 600 Family
Calon introduces our own DALI products.
2010
BACnet arrives
Calon develops its own BACnet stack, based on the ASHRAE reference implementation.

2010
Customer project – West Cheshire College
Networked DALI lighting controls, integrated to BMS and HVAC across two sites.

2011 - 2013
Customer project – Motability Bristol
Progressive roll-out of Networked lighting control systems with automated emergency testing to campus of new-build offices.
2012
Further expansion
Calon moves again to larger self contained premises in Manor Park, Runcorn.
2012
Customer project – Manchester Airport
Networked DALI lighting controls to terminal 2, integrated to BMS and flight control system. The start of 12-year partnership supplying lighting controls to airports across the Manchester Airports Group, including Stansted and East Midlands Airports.
2013
Customer project – Motability, Harlow
Networked lighting control system

Moving forward with LOYTEC
Calon becomes official LOYTEC Competence Centre for UK and Ireland, offering products, support and training.

Customer project – Courier Building, Dundee
DALI lighting controls and multisensors for Tunable White Lighting in refurbishment of iconic listed building.
2014
Customer project – Shell, Germany
STREAM Networked condition monitoring of all KPIs for 250 filling stations linked to a unified reporting system.

2014
Customer project – Motability, London
Networked lighting control system to large office tower.
2017
SmartSensor D
Calon introduces the SmartSensor family of advanced DALI multisensors.

2018
Customer project – Credit Suisse, Canary Wharf
Networked DALI lighting controls and DALI multisensors for refurbishment of bank HQ.

2020
SmartBridge PoE
Calon introduces SmartBridge PoE, the smallest and easiest DALI application controller with BACnet.
2020
Expansion in Ireland
Calon Europe Limited established in Ireland to market and distribute Calon products in the EU.
2021
Customer project – Motability, Harlow
Upgraded system with networked DALI lighting controls, DALI multisensors and automatic Emergency light testing.

2021
Customer project – Tesco Stores, Ireland
Rollout of advanced DALI lighting controls and multisensors to retrofit a large Tesco store, the start of our partnership with Tesco.

Active Lighting Manager
Calon introduces Active Lighting Manager, the first ‘supervisor in a box’ for networked lighting controls and emergency lighting.

2022
Customer project – Apple HQ
SmartBridge DALI lighting controls plus Advanced Colour touch panels for integrated user control of room functions.
2022
Customer project – St Catherine’s Hospice
Networked DALI lighting controls and DALI multisensors for new-build care facility.

2023
Customer project – Deutsche Bank
Networked DALI lighting controls and DALI multisensors for new-build Bank HQ.

2023
Customer project – London City Airport
Networked DALI lighting controls, DALI multisensors and Emergency monitoring for airport refurbishment.

2024
New Addition
Matt Sims joins the Calon team as Operations Manager.

Customer project – Lloyds of London
Networked SmartBridge DALI lighting controls and DALI multisensors for refurbishment of this iconic listed building
