When Apple chose the iconic Battersea Power Station development for their new London headquarters, they demanded a specialist lighting control solution that comprised an advanced user interface panel for meeting rooms that lived up to the class-leading design standards and aesthetics of their own products.

As specialists in lighting control solutions, Calon supplied LOYTEC L-PAD 7 colour touch panels and worked with leading system integrator Lloret Control Systems to create a solution that integrates with both BACnet-based BMS and room comfort controls and LonWorks-based lighting controls.
Extra considerations around specialist lighting control
With an increased awareness of the importance of staff wellbeing, the designers responsible for the refurbishment wanted to incorporate natural ventilation wherever possible in the office areas. However, as a listed building, Battersea Power Station had restrictions on fitting automatic actuators to the heritage windows.
The Solution
In open plan office areas, Calon SmartBridge DALI lighting controls integrated to the site BMS system and are used to control low-voltage LED indicator lamps inset flush into the office floor. This provides users with a visual indication of air quality and signalling when it may be advisable to open or close the heritage windows on this iconic building.
Equipment used:
- Custom RGB DALI Drivers
- LOYTEC LPAD7 Colour touch screens with BACnet/IP
- LOYTEC LPAD-SOCKET2 bases with LonWorks and MS/TP interfaces
- CALON SmartBridge DALI application controllers with BACnet/IP and PoE.
